Powers Outdoors has been bringing quality products and superior customer service to Michigan and beyond for nearly 70 years. “Powers” began modestly as a haberdasher shop in 1941. Powers soon became Powers Clothing & Shoes, eventually selling both men’s and women’s apparel. Keeping up with the times, we saw an exciting growth in the outdoor industry in the 1980’s. This was a passion of ours, which would eventually change the entire concept of the store. Circa 1997, the company changed its name to Powers Outdoors and began to outfit those seeking an outdoor lifestyle. Opening its doors first in Newaygo, Powers Outdoors catered to the individual not the masses. Understanding the importance of customer service, we have added locations in Montague and Rockford with the same mentality of individual service. By keeping the focus on our customer’s needs, Powers Outdoors has grown into one on the state’s largest specialty outdoor retailers.

Powers Outdoors has built its paddle sports business around a true hands on approach. “Try before you buy” is our philosophy when it comes to paddling. We make sure that the Kayak, Canoe or SUP that you are contemplating is the right craft for your needs. We do this by running daily demos and personalized sessions to make sure you are comfortable with your purchase. Along with our unique paddle sports approach, Powers Outdoors also offers custom fitting on backpacks, sleeping bags and equipment. This way you know that your items will perform and fit properly on your next outdoor adventure. Another way that Powers Outdoors stands above the rest is by making sure we know our products. We wear what we sell, so our staff is up to speed on the fit and function of our many name brand clothing and footwear lines.
